The Society's aims and objectives are stated in our constitution.

Here are some of our more specific aims that our groups are working to achieve:

  • To defend the surrounding countryside.

  • To oppose the loss of open spaces and playing fields.

  • To encourage a good standard of housing in the right places.

  • To protect historic buildings, ancient monuments and conservation areas.

  • To protect woodlands and help to improve them.

  • To work for the deculverting and upgrading of our waterways.

  • To restore Pann Mill.

  • To oppose urban motorways and work for an integrated transport policy.

  • To foster an interest in local history and archaeology.

  • To encourage children in environmental education.

  • To help local residents' associations and individuals troubled by planning applications.
