The work of the Society broadly falls into the five activity areas outlined below. In addition, we run a general programme of events for our members and for the public.
Planning
We monitor planning applications and oppose plans which we consider will harm the environment or are not in local people’s interests. The Planning Group meets monthly. It is heavily loaded and is keen to have new members.
The Planning Group Chairman, Andrew Taylor is the appropriate contact for press inquiries. You can e-mail the Planning group.
Transport
We study local transport plans and make positive proposals for improving the local traffic situation. The Transport Group meets on an as-needed basis. Specialists within it focus on different transport subjects: rail, traffic etc.
The Transport Group Leader, Nigel Phillips is the primary contact for transport-related matters. You can e-mail the Transport group.
Pann Mill
We restored Pann Mill so that corn could be ground again in what is now the last working mill on the River Wye. The Pann Mill Restoration Group meet twice-monthly to maintain the mill. A team of gardeners also maintain the surrounding garden. You can also visit our own website.
The Pann Mill Restoration Group Leader is Robert Turner (01494 472981). You can e-mail the Pann Mill group.
Heritage
We take an interest in all aspects of local history, archaeology and architectural aspects of our conservation areas and listed buildings. We also receive and respond to inquiries about our local heritage.
David Snoxell is our Heritage representative and will be pleased to receive your Heritage related enquiries.
Environment
The founding members of the High Wycombe Society were drawn from The Rye Protection Society. We have kept a watchful eye on the Rye and other green spaces in our town ever since. We are involved in ongoing initiatives to protect and enhance our environment.
We will be pleased to receive your Environment related enquiries.
