HIGH  WYCOMBE  SOCIETY

 

PLANNING  GROUP  PRINCIPLES

 

AIM:           The protection and enhancement of the built and natural heritage of High Wycombe and the surrounding countryside.

 

1.                  To promote high standards of architecture, urban design and town planning.

 

2.         To encourage such facilities as public amenities, town open space, environment and countryside for the enjoyment of all local people.

 

3.         To discuss and contribute to the Wycombe District Local Plan in relation to commercial, industrial and residential development and activity in the High Wycombe area.

 

4.         To monitor all planning applications as to their acceptability in terms of design, use, size and their impact on High Wycombe’s heritage.

 

5.         To encourage developers in the use of local tools, materials, designs and characteristic features of High Wycombe, in all types of development.

 

6.         To be protective of the environment of the town, including the AONB, Green Belt, countryside and green space generally.

 

7.         To encourage the preservation of listed buildings, conservation areas and wildlife within existing and new developments.

 

8.         To actively encourage the use of brownfield sites and appropriate in-fill areas, including commercial and industrial sites.

 

9.         To liaise with the High Wycombe Society Transport Group on transport plans relating to High Wycombe.

 

10.       To report and recommend to the High Wycombe Society Executive Committee on matters of planning and development, as appropriate to the Aims of the Society.
