Society members should by now have received notification from the Hon. Secretary confirming cancellation of the Annual General Meeting which was scheduled to have taken place on 19th June 2020. This was sent as an email bulletin on 28th May to all members who have provided email addresses to the Society, and by post to those who have not.
Included with the above was a copy of the Accounts for 2019-2020 prepared by our Treasurer and a News Update sheet prepared by our Newsletter Editorial Team. The Annual Return has been submitted to the Charity Commission in the normal manner and our formal Annual Report has also been produced.
If you think you should have received the above communication and have not done so please check in your SPAM folder if you have one before contacting for assistance.
Whilst the published programme of events is suspended much of the work of the Society continues and we are grateful to all members who have managed to renew their subscriptions but would also like to reassure any members who usually prefer to pay in person that they should still regard themselves as members until there is an opportunity to do so.
Our constitution requires an AGM to be held within 15 months of the previous one, but in current circumstances brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic this is not practical. The existing Trustee Board are following guidelines issued by the Government and the Charity Commission and have all agreed to continue serving until the AGM in 2021, but also wish to remind members that we have the power to co-opt additional trustees. So if there are any members reading this who would be interested to know more about serving as a Trustee they are urged to get in touch.
