Wycombe history, scandals, ghosts, gossip, fires, personalities, buildings, and their owners in the High Street and Easton Street from the 1750s to the 1900s, by Charles Raffety, the “Grand Old Man of High Wycombe”.
In 2010, Jackie Kay discovered a copy of Charles Raffety’s “Chats” from 1910 in the Wycombe Museum. Originally without images, this edited and revised edition for a 21st-century audience is illustrated with photographs from Sharing Wycombe’s Old Photographs (SWOP), showing the High Street and Easton Street as Mr Raffety and his audience would have known them nearly two centuries ago.
