The Society’s work is focused on five interest areas and includes a general program of events for members and the public.
Planning
We monitor planning applications and oppose plans that we believe will harm the environment or are not in the interests of local people. The Planning Group meets monthly and is actively seeking new members.
The Planning Group Chairman, Tony Hatton is the appropriate contact for press inquiries. You can e-mail the Planning group.
Transport
We analyze local transportation plans and suggest improvements for the local traffic situation. The Transport Group convenes as required, with specialists focusing on various transportation aspects, such as rail and traffic.
The Transport Group Leader, Nigel Phillips is the primary contact for transport-related matters. You can e-mail the Transport group.
Pann Mill
We have restored Pann Mill, the last working mill on the River Wye, so that corn can be ground there again. The Pann Mill Restoration Group meets twice a month to maintain the mill. Additionally, a team of gardeners takes care of the surrounding garden. You can also visit our own website.
The Pann Mill Restoration Group Leader is Robert Turner (01494 472981). You can e-mail the Pann Mill group.
Heritage
We are interested in and support our members in exploring all aspects of our town’s local history, archaeology, and the architectural aspects of the town’s conservation areas and listed buildings. We also receive and respond to inquiries about our local heritage.
David Snoxell is our Heritage representative and will be pleased to receive your Heritage related enquiries.
Environment
The High Wycombe Society was founded by members of The Rye Protection Society. Since then, we have been keeping a watchful eye on The Rye and other green spaces in our town. We actively engage in ongoing efforts to protect and improve our environment.
We will be pleased to receive your Environment related enquiries.
