On Civic Day – Saturday 20th June – at our “Meet the High Wycombe Society” event at the Riverside (formerly the Royal British Legion) in St Mary Street. there was an opportunity to see most of our recent “Celebrating the Rye” exhibition in a compact form. Members of the Society representing different aspects of our work were also on hand to discuss topics covered by other displays over tea, coffee and cake.
At 2 pm. there was a special presentation of a prize to the winner of our Civic Day Competition. The competition which ran throughout the month of May asked entrants to say why they liked High Wycombe and how they would change it if armed with a suitable magic wand. A panel of judges sorted through the entries looking at factors such as practicality and originality, before arriving at their decision.
We were delighted that the Mayor accepted our invitation to present the prize to the winner, Mrs S Priestley.
