Mistress Beth, a seasoned time-traveller, wishes to invite members of the High Wycombe Society, their friends, families, and fellow residents of High Wycombe to travel back in time to pay her a visit at Mary Arden’s Farm. On Saturday 20th August 2016, a coach will set off from High Wycombe for Wilmcote, a small village just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon where it will arrive in 1573, the time of our glorious majesty Queen Elizabeth. We will visit the great farmhouse which belongs to Adam Palmer, a wealthy yeoman with various rare-breed animals; we will see traditional crafts and of course the labourers on the farm itself doing their daily chores, cooking, caring for the animals and perhaps a little merry making. Master Palmer will doubtless show us his falconry skills and perhaps the archer will even let us try his bow and arrow. We will continue down the path to visit the Ardens. Mistress Mary (married to Master Shakespeare), now has a small son called William. It is said he has a way with words and will one day be well-known. Mistress Beth has her doubts though. but hopes to see thee anon.
